Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

What we’re doing to maintain good community health

During these concerning times with the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, we really appreciate local community support and will continue to deliver quality fitness options. These options will evolve alongside our community’s needs to help keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible (with some great new options coming your way).

Following on from our hygiene update in the Hive Active newsletter last week, we have continued to revise our protocols and procedures for visiting and working out at Hive Active.

As always, we request all members who are working out to:

  • Bring a towel and drink bottle to each session – DO NOT SHARE.
  • Wipe down equipment after each use with the disinfectant stationed around the gym
  • Regularly wash your hands and use hand sanitiser throughout the day
  • Stay home if you feel unwell, especially if you are suffering from a respiratory illness, and remain at home/do not return to Hive Active until symptoms resolve.

In addition to these standards, we also request all visitors and members to:

  • Wash hands thoroughly on arrival at Hive Active and use the hand sanitiser provided
  • Wait 14 days before returning to Hive Active if you have travelled overseas
  • If you become a confirmed case or come into close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, please notify Hive Active and wait until you are medically cleared before returning to Hive Active.

We will continue to monitor the changing government health requirements surrounding COVID-19 and our protocols will be revised as required. In moving forward, until you hear otherwise, if you’re healthy and are not required to self-isolate, you’re welcome to train at Hive Active and we will continue to run classes.

To assist our members during this unsettled time we have also implemented:

  • Additional Cleaning – Cleaning of floors, amenities and equipment has increased throughout the gym. This includes the addition of “Scottie” our latest team member. “Scottie” is our new floor scrubber and multiwash cleaning system that enhances our ability to clean and disinfect our workout floor surfaces, especially the rubber mats.
  • Hive@Home – For those members who are self-isolating (but are still well) or are practicing self-distancing, we’re offering a new “Hive@Home” program. This program will be available to all ACTIVE members and can be accessed via your Wodify Account as part of your membership. This will include workouts you can do at home with minimal equipment. The workouts will be available under the Wodify program tab “Hive@Home” from Wednesday 18th March.
  • Personal Training – If you’re concerned about training as part of a group, you can book a one-on-one training session with one of the fabulous Personal trainers at Hive Active. Please speak to Florian, Kate, Daniel or Courtney when you’re next in at Hive Active, or contact us at and we’ll put you in touch.
  • Customised offsite training – If you love the idea of Hive@Home but want more personalised programming, Flo can develop a personal program for you. Please speak to Flo directly or contact him on

What does NSW Health have to say about gym attendance?
According to the NSW Health website:

Keeping fit remains important. If you are well and have not been asked to self-isolate then you can go to the gym. Don’t go to the gym if you are unwell.

Try to go to the gym when it’s less crowded. When at the gym, you should use wipes provided before you use each piece of equipment. Gym classes are currently OK, but this advice may change.

Gyms should ensure that they are cleaning regularly, using appropriate disinfectant.

What if you need to put my membership on hold?
For those of you that are unwell, you can place your membership on hold for a up to 4 weeks without losing your current membership rates. Please note; if you place your membership on hold you won’t have access to Hive@Home, but if you’re unwell you really should be taking it easy. If you require a longer hold period, this may affect your existing membership rates, and you will need to check with Inshan regarding this.

To make ANY changes to your membership, please email Inshan at and Inshan will reply once the changes have been made.

What if Hive Active has to temporarily shutdown?
You may be aware that some countries overseas have temporarily shut down gyms. If this regulation is introduced in Australia, all our programming will switch over to Hive@Home and the programming will evolve to meet the needs of our community. As you know, Flo is very creative when it comes to programming, so there will no doubt be some very fun and challenging sessions posted. Should this temporary period be extended, we will look at loaning out certain equipment that can be used at home as part of the Hive@Home workouts.

How can you help your Hive Active community?
We will do our best to help our community remain safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic by maintaining high standards of hygiene and flexible training options.

As a local business, we ask that you continue to support Hive Active and other local businesses through your patronage if you are well, and by maintaining your distance if your health is compromised.
