AC Grist

Vinyasa Yoga Instructor

AC started with yoga after 4 years of Pilates and a year of fitness training. She wanted not only be fit, but also flexible. AC’s practice included Jivamukti, Ashtanga, Iyengar and Power, mostly in London.

After coming back to Australia, AC’s practice has expanded further to include Acroyoga and Antigravity (aerial) yoga.

AC did her teacher training in Bali, Indonesia in the style of Vinyasa Krama. Its principles are based on the teaching of Krishnamarchaya which emphasizes good alignment and safely entering and exiting each pose.

AC currently teaches Basic/Beginners, Seniors/Restore and Power and core. Occasionally teaching teenager classes and mentally disabled adults.

AC believes that a yoga class can be anything the students need at that moment, e.g. fast, slow, hard or gentle. A class can also be laid back, but never painful.

AC is a licensed medical doctor. She uses her knowledge of the human body (biomechanics) in her yoga classes to improve movement and strength from previous injuries. She pays particular attention in her teaching to provide her students with a yoga practice that is injury free.

During medical school she had special interest in Psychiatry/Psychology and the connection of mind and body. How a good mind set helps in better and quicker recovery, so yoga was a natural fit.

AC’s other interests include travelling, languages, gardening, floristry, tennis and running.
