Infrared Sauna

Infrared Saunas and the thermal therapy they provide are a great way to improve your overall health and well-being and speed up recovery. They work by emitting infrared light waves, which penetrate the skin and warm the body’s tissues from the inside.

This gradual infrared therapy means you won’t feel the excessive heat burning your skin like traditional saunas, making your time spent in a far infrared sauna more enjoyable and therapeutic.

Air compression

Treat yourself to a great bio-hack and recovery experience! Air compression recovery gear can be used before and after training sessions, or for those looking to counteract physically demanding lifestyles or who have been on their feet all day.

Air compression recovery technology uses dynamic pneumatic compression pumped in a wave-like pattern to enhance the body’s natural healing ability. Think of it as a high-tech, deep pressure, recovery massage that enhances blood flow and speeds recovery for your legs (recovery boots), and your glutes, obliques, lower back and upper legs (recovery shorts).

Normatec Boots – full leg including foot. Standard Size: 160cm-190cm

Compex Ayre Boots – full leg including foot. Standard Size: Adult <183cm

Normatec Shorts – one size.

Compex e-Stim

Compex muscle stimulation therapy is a non-invasive workout and recovery technology that uses electrical impulses to maintain and restore muscle volume, improve your strength, and help you relax and recover faster.

Please note: Compex Stim electrode pads and are not included in the cost of a session. They come in two sizes – large and small, are $15 per set and can be purchased at the time of your initial session.

PEMF Therapy

A PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) session helps to recharge your system. Working at the cellular level, PEMF stimulates cell activity, promotes neural regeneration, increases blood circulation in and around damaged tissue, and increases ATP production. When combined with Far Infrared mode in the full body PEMF mat, your PEMF session and benefits are given an added boost.

FAQs

Infrared Sauna

  • The increase in core body temperature achieved is thought to have a number of beneficial effects on the body, including:

    • Reducing pain and inflammation

    • Improving circulation and oxygenation

    • Promoting cellular repair and regeneration

    • Relaxing muscles and reducing muscle spasms

    • Improving immunity

    • Improving skin health

    • Improving sleep quality

    • Reducing stress and promoting relaxation

    • Helping with detoxification

  • Infrared therapy is safe for most people to use, however there are a few conditions that it should not be used for, such as pregnant women, those with heart conditions, or those with metal implants.

Far Infrared therapy can benefit a wide range of people, including those with chronic pain, injuries, arthritis, fibromyalgia, and other conditions that can cause inflammation and pain. It’s also beneficial for athletes looking to recover from workouts and improve their performance, and for people looking to improve their overall health and well-being.

If you have any concerns about whether infrared radiation is right for you, be sure to speak to your doctor before beginning treatment.

  • Our Clearlight Infrared Sauna works by emitting infrared light waves, which penetrate the skin and warm the body’s tissues from the inside. This gradual infrared therapy means you won’t feel the excessive heat burning your skin like traditional saunas, making your time spent in a far infrared sauna more enjoyable and therapeutic.

  • The infrared heaters in our sauna are designed to create the perfect infrared therapy wavelengths from 42°C to 55°C for a total usage time of 20-45 minutes, ideally three times per week. However, ideal session times and frequency vary on the individual and their specific health needs and preferences.

  • Unlike traditional saunas, ambient (surrounding) temperature is not an effective measure of the effectiveness of an infrared sauna. The benefits come from being in direct alignment with the infrared heaters and from being exposed to infrared wavelength for extended periods of time, so it is better to use the sauna for longer sessions at a lower temperature rather than having shorter and hotter sessions.

If you do like the sauna hotter you can increase the preheating times, however, it is not necessary per se as the infrared is the main driver for perspiration. In other words, with infrared you will still sweat even if the cabin temperature is lower, because the infrared warms the body up from within.

Air Compression Therapy

  • Air compression Technology is designed to:

    • Enhance healthy circulation

    • Decrease muscle soreness and fatigue

    • Increase flexibility

    • Speed up recovery

    • Promote relaxation

  • While air compression recovery technology is a great bio-hack and recovery experience, pneumatic pressure massage is not for everyone.

It is a non-medical technology and should not be used to treat medical conditions or injury, on children or on any of the following conditions:

    • Pregnancy (Doctor’s clearance required)

    • For a person with suspected, active or untreated: Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), ischemic vascular disease, severe arteriosclerosis, pulmonary edema, episode or pulmonary embolism, severe congestive heart/cardiac failure, thrombophlebitis or an active infection.

    • Where there are localised wounds, lesions, infection, tumours, vein ligation, gangrene, dermatitis, recent skin grafts, massive edema or extreme deformity at or near the site of device application [i.e feet + legs (recovery boots) or lower back, glutes and legs (recovery shorts).

    • Where increased venous and lymphatic return is undesirable.

    • Bone fractures or dislocations at or near the site of application.

    • Not for use on any neuropathy.

    • Do not use on areas that are insensitive to pain.

    • If you are seeking to use air compression technology for medical applications, consult your doctor on treatment protocols and what best suits your medical needs before using this technology.

Compex e-Stim Therapy

  • Also known as EMS, NMES, muscle stim, e-stim and electrostimulation, Muscle Stimulation Therapy is a tried and tested medical treatment method, used for rehabilitation, pain treatment and for training sportsmen and women.

The Compex mimics the electrical impulses sent from the brain to your muscles by sending electric pulses to your motor nerves in order to create muscle contractions. In doing so, it can effectively:

    • Enhance your recovery (post workout and injury)

    • Boost your performance without negatively impacting joints or causing nervous fatigue

    • Support your training efforts pre and during workout

    • Provide pain management

    • Relieve “heavy” legs

    • Support body firming and toning initiatives

  • The principle behind muscle stimulation is simple. It reproduces the process by which muscle contractions are controlled by the brain. So, with muscle stimulation, the activity in your muscles is triggered by electrical impulses sent by our devices to the motor nerve. Your muscle cannot distinguish between acontraction triggered by your brain and one triggered by muscle stimulation. This is known as electrically induced contraction.

  • Compex devices produce a stable and controlled waveform through a constant current generator, offering its users the ideal current and optimal impulses regardless of the variations in skin resistance. This makes it a safe, comfortable and efficient device for most people for use during recovery or training. However, Compex is not suitable (contraindicated) for:

    • People with epilepsy (unless approved by medical professional)

    • People who wear a pacemaker (unless approved by medical professional)

    • Placement of electrodes and use on the head

    • Placement of electrodes across open wounds or abrasions.

Electrostimulation placement and use should also be avoided by:

    • Pregnant women on their lower back or abdomen

    • People suffering perineal lesions (hernia, eventration) on or around the stomach area.

  • The Compex SP 6.0 is a wireless, compact device that utilises a muscle intelligence technology that mimics the electrical impulses sent from the brain to your muscles. By placing the electrodes on the muscles you wish to stimulate and then selecting a menu program of your choice, you can work your muscles at the touch of a button.

The built-in MI-Scan function, means that you can automatically adjust the electro-stimulator setting to suit your own personal muscle attributes.

The Compex SP 6.0 contains 30 programs, designed to bring fresh oxygen and nutrients to the muscles to facilitate the flush of toxins, helping you to recover faster.

Simply place the self-adhesive pads on the muscle area you’d like to target. Select your program and let Compex help you get stronger and fitter faster than you would with your regular routine.

  • Clinical studies have found that using the programming under the Conditioning and Fitness categories of Compex Muscle Stim can help build muscle and provide a variety of performance enhancing effects. Some of these effects are increasing muscle density, improving VO2, increasing strength, and power output for movements such as a vertical jump*.

  • No, muscle stimulation will not lead to weight loss because it only acts on the muscle. Instead, an abdominal program will lead to firmer, more toned stomach muscles and will help to sculpt the body.

  • Not for the pain management programs. The programs intended to sculpt and tone muscles, like in sport, require a higher intensity to achieve better results. It is therefore strongly advised to increase the intensity to the maximum you can tolerate. This will cause the same pain as lifting weights, but not discomfort.

  • No. It’s not possible to cause injury because the intensity is increased progressively during the contraction period to ensure that there is no risk of muscle tears.

PEMF Therapy

  • There are a wide range of benefits proven by clinical studies in the use of PEMF. As a stand alone modality, these can include:

    • Stimulates cellular activity, promotes neural regeneration and brain function, improves neuro-muscular function and general health

    • blood circulation in and around damaged tissue and helps to heal damaged cells.

    • Improves micro-circulation, increases supply of oxygen, ions and nutrients to cells

    • Increases ATP production by excitations of electrons

    • Stimulates RNA and DNA production

    • Accelerates protein biosynthesis by electron and energy transfer

    • Increases calcium transport and absorption for stronger bones, joints and muscles

    • Enhances cellular and tissue elasticity with increased collagen production

    • Increases cellular genesis promoting bone, cartilage, tendon and soft tissue growth Stimulates cellular repair mechanism (wound healing)

    • Enhances macro circulation, de-clumping of blood cells, alternately dilating and constricting vessels and through angiogenesis, promotes growth of new blood vessel (blood pressure decreases)

    • Accelerates detoxification of cells and organs

    • Decreases swelling, inflammation and pain

    • Boosts immune system by improving the rolling and adhesion behavior of white blood cells

    • Supports the body’s internal self-regulating mechanism

PEMF therapy is more effective when coupled with: Exercise, good nutrition, yoga, meditation, sufficient water intake and overall healthy lifestyle choices.

It can be very effective when combined with: Physiotherapy, chiropractic, nutritional counseling, massage therapy, stroke rehabilitation, naturopathic, conventional or alternative cancer treatments, psychological or psychiatric counseling and treatments.

  • The PEMF system works at a cellular level. It produces electromagnetic impulses that match frequencies that resonate with our membrane receptors (neuropeptides) and stimulate vital functions within the cellular structure.

Just as our cells can be signaled to perform new and different functions with chemicals (e.g., nutrients or drugs), they can also be signaled energetically with electromagnetic waves. In fact some cellular functions are stimulated more effectively with energy than with chemistry. The healthy band width of electromagnetic frequencies are called “biological windows.” As long as the frequency being delivered falls within this window it can provide benefit at the cellular level in terms of intake of nutrients, elimination of waste products of metabolism, and overall cellular function.

  • While the use of PEMF has wide ranging benefits, it should not be used by people with certain conditions, including:

    • Epilepsy

    • Pregnancy

    • Children less than 2 weeks old

    • Electronic implants

If you’re unsure, please consult with a medical practitioner prior to use.

  • A Single session positively affects almost all 70 trillion cells in the human body, with daily use of magnetic resonance stimulating and activating the body’s self healing ability and improving overall well being.

That said, session lengths and frequency can vary depending on the goals you have and whether the full mat or targeted pads or spots are used. For example, shorter sessions, 2-3 times a day can be more beneficial than a longer session once a day. Because of this, it’s good to discuss your goals with us, at the time of your initial booking.
